Silhouette Love

You can thank my sister-in-law Myhoa for me finally doing a post. I have been seriously negligent when it comes to blogging and in many other areas of my life. With 2 little ones, work, holidays, travel, many illnesses at our house plus all the normal stuff...I have just not figured out how to get much done! But Myhoa asked me about my silhouette machine which I love...so I told her I would post a few projects I have done with it. You are going to love yours Myhoa!
Just a simple monogrammed plate
This is a frame I made with scrapbook paper then added the vinyl letters. Too bad I STILL don't have a decent family picture to put in it! Why don't 2 year-olds cooperate for pictures?!
So I just did this little baby display in our hallway. It has been on my to-do list for months and I finally did it last week! I was so determined to get something crossed off my list that I made Brandon help me hang it around midnight.

From one of our favorite books! Sorry about the glare.
And here are a few projects from Hazels room that I did with fabric.

There are several more things that I have been wanting to make and one day need to sit down and learn how to use the machine even better...but this is a start!

2 Months

Our baby girl is 2 months old! Of course time is flying by and that means I have to go back to work in less than a month! I have grown so accustomed to this new life of a full-time stay-at-home mom that I think it will be quite difficult to go back. Especially if Hazel doesn't start sleeping on a more regular schedule. Her stats are:
 Weight: 11 pounds 15 ounces (75th percentile); Height: 23.5 inches (75 – 90th percentile)
At 2 months Ty weighed 15lbs 10oz...quite a big difference there. And that is very good since I am really not supposed to lift more than 10 pounds after the surgery I just had. Here are some pics of our little sweetie.
She always has this concerned look on her face when we take her picture.

And just for good measure I thought I would show a couple pics of our rascal Ty. He is very silly but is definitely having the terrible twos. He used to be so layed back but now I think he has OCD (my fault) and throws quite the tantrum when his shoelaces are not just right, he does not have the shirt on he wants at that moment, his hands are dirty, etc. But one funny thing he does is for some reason before bed or naps he often decides to wear a hat. Sometimes I will go check on him during nap-time when I can tell he is still awake and he will be wearing a hat "reading" books. This is from tonight.
 Stories with dad.
This is from some time last month.

He is adorable and makes us laugh but also drives us CRAZY sometimes. I guess that is what children do.

Sleep Deprived

Wishing our baby looked more like this between the hours of 11pm - 7am.

Instead she often looks so awake that her eyes look like they are bugging out and she doesn't even blink! At least my husband is back in town now a little more to share in the joys of sleeplessness. We were truly spoiled with Ty so I shouldn't complain; and I keep reminding myself to treasure this time because it will be gone before we know it.

Hazel Jane

Our friend Leigh took some fabulous pictures of our sweet baby girl. Unfortunately Ty did not want to participate in pictures that day so we couldn't really get any good ones of the whole family or of the 2 of them. Bummer! So we will have to do some family pictures later I guess. Here are a few of them. Thanks Leigh!

She's here!

Hazel Jane Wheeler was born Monday August 8th at 10:02am. She is just beautiful and has been a little angel so far. Here are some pics of the momentous occasion. Here I am before surgery...don't let the smile fool you...I was very anxious and nervous.
This just makes me laugh...Brandon in his moon boots getting ready for the OR.

Hopefully this next pic won't gross too many of you out. This time around it was really cool because the OB allowed Brandon to go in front of the sterile field so he could really see what was going on and was able to take pictures during the surgery. I will spare you my insides but when they pulled Hazel out she grabbed onto the suction tube with both hands and they had to pry her off.
Here she is with her daddy. She weighed in at only 7lbs 7oz and 19 3/4 inches long...a full 2 pounds lighter than Ty! We think she is just the tiniest thing although this is probably an average weight.
For anyone who cares about the medical side of things...apparently the reason I carry babies the way I do is because my sacrum protrudes into me pelvis and there is no room for a baby to fit. So I always carry really high because the baby cannot get into my pelvis. Don't know why the last OB didn't notice this. Hazel's head was right up against my previous incision and the OB said had I tried labor I would have ruptured because she would have just pushed against the incision instead of the cervix. At least now we know for the future!
Here is Ty meeting his sister for the first time! My mom was so great to have Ty while we were at the hospital and brought him to visit each day.
 Our first family picture.
Here is our tiny thing leaving the hospital. She was a little jaundice.
 Love the pose!
This is Ty today with her. He has been so great and sweet to her. He always asks where she is and tries to give her the pacifier and pats her head. So far we have not seen much jealousy...let's hope it stays that way.
I am still in some pain but getting a little better each day. Apparently my abdominal  muscles were split completely in half from Ty so the doctor sewed me back together (really only the bottom half because she couldn't go all the way up with the low incision). Because of this I really cannot lift anything heavier than the baby for a full 6 weeks. This is going to be very challenging with our 2 year old...but I am really going to try so I don't separate the muscles again. Thanks Brandon and mom for all of the help!

Ty's Room

So I still haven't taken pics of the laundry room so I decided to show you Ty's big boy room. This has taken up so much of our time and energy that our poor baby girl has a room that is still barely decorated, even though she is arriving in 3 days! Ty's new room has been our storage/scrapbook/Brandon's video game room since we moved in. I am sad I had to move all of my scrapbook stuff out. And we had to install the cabinets in the laundry room for storage so we could empty his room out. It is now transformed into a cute little boys' room. I forgot to take before pictures but here are a couple once we had already started moving everything out.
There is not much to see...lots of white and lots of stuff. There is my scrapbooking table with all of Ty's baby book stuff on it. I also wanted to finish that before Baby #2...I am not even in the ballpark of close.
So here are some after pics. That bookshelf was a major pain. We already had it...it is laminate and was almost a pinkish wood-tone. We added bead-board to the back and then had to do MANY coats of primer, then yellow paint, then I whitewashed it to get it a similar color to the storage bench.
Guess I should have turned the light off...photography is not my strong suit.  As you can see we did a board and batten treatment to the walls which also was a pain... so much caulking! But we like how it turned out.
 Ty's new big boy bed.
Ty had these letters in his nursery but I had to take them apart and redo them to match his new room.

I made these pictures. The green one is always hanging off-kilter since when Ty goes to bed he likes to kick the wall just below it.

The knick-knacks for the bookshelf are not complete yet.
I got that cute Dr. Seuss printable from the ishare printables website. Love it!
I still need to finish making a magnetic board to hang plus would like to get a bean bag chair or something to put in the empty corner of the room...but we have done a lot of work.

We moved Ty into his big boy bed the very end of June. He loved his crib and had never tried to climb out, so I felt bad moving him. I was also worried that he would wake up super early and also get out of bed a million times as I hear lots of kids do. He has been great! The first night he did not want to go in it and wanted his crib. Here we are reading stories his first night.
PS. He was not eating in bed...that was an empty container he was playing with.
I seriously had tears when we left the room because my baby is really growing up. He didn't budge that first night and slept great. Since then he has continued to do so well. He stays in bed for the most part...has never gotten up in the middle of the night...and most of the time still waits for one of us to come get him in the morning even though he can get out on his own. We are so proud of him and how smoothly he has made this transition. Here is a picture of his first night when I snuck in later to check on him.
He is such a precious boy. The past couple of weeks he has started to call me "honey" since I guess he hears Brandon say that. It is adorable. I am going to miss this time we have had together just the 2 of us...had a meltdown last weekend realizing it was our last week before the baby. I hope he loves his sister and that he won't be too jealous!
